How to improve your Mindset

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

Do you happen to find yourself having the same thought in your head again and again?

Have you ever thought you can actually change your way of thinking?

Your mindset originates from things you have heard throughout the years within your family, circle of friends, at school, at work, etc…

All these life experiences have built your mindset until now. One way to improve it is by noticing and questioning your thoughts (why do I think that?).

When you have a limiting mindset, you might find yourself giving up easily, avoiding challenges, lacking motivation, comparing yourself to others, seeing tasks as too hard and yourself not (good, smart, pretty, fit, …) enough.

By noticing these patterns of thoughts, you can begin to question them.

Ask yourself if you truly believe them and why. Can you prove these beliefs?

  • Try this: instead of giving up, persevere. Embrace challenges, have your goals clear in mind, find inspiration in others' success, be aware that effort is needed to build new skills and take actions towards your goals.

Pay attention to your language patterns as well. Did you notice any recurring sentences or words? Are you using words such as “maybe”, “probably”, “…, I think”, “…, I guess” too often? Use positive affirmations, instead.

  • Write down every limiting thought you have during the week.

Switch them to positive, see the situation from a different perspective and think about how you would ideally react next time something similar happens.

Remember that you can choose how you want to talk, think, behave and live. It is your own choice.
